Halloween and Happy Birthday Elizabeth

First of all, the Princess turned four. FOUR!! I can't believe it. She kind of got the difference between her bday and Halloween this year, where last year she kind of thought the whole event was HER big celebration. It was a full day--first a 2 mile road race in the morning, then home for a bit finishing off putting together costumes, then soccer for Meg, then home for the birthday party, then costumes on, off to Trunk or treat at church, then off to real trick or treating. It was exhausting, but really fun.

We had an Indiana Jones (Michael), gypsy (Meg), Darth (Matthew) Luke Skywalker (Jon),
an angel (Lizzie), and Rachel was Snow White--really it was the only costume she would wear. It was a fight to get it on, and then a battle to get it off when it was all over. She is so stubborn in her two year old glory! She loved trick or treating--she lost all shyness when she figured out EVERYONE was giving out candy. She was eating out of her bag, wrappers and all, as we went.
Look at this sugar filled, happy girl looking for more!

Yeah! you are back! Happy birthday Lizzie. What a fun day to have a birthday! We did send something but it's probably really late. All the Barney's look great in their costumes. We wish we all could have trick & treated together.

yeah for being back!!!!!!!! Love the photos, and reading about your Halloween day only made me realize WE TOO, do that too often!! OVER BOOK city!!!! Hey, what was the road race?? Which kids ran? Jillian and Ian have done a little "cross country" series for middle school kids. (they let Ian run, even though he is supposed to be in 6, 7 or 8th grade.) Jillians school has NO running program, this "series" is done by another middle school close by, who btw, meet 2 days a week in the AM for a run!! (of course, not Jillians school!!) So, any "training" that they do, is incorporated into soccer practice or maybe a very short run or two a week, or whatever the PE teacher assigns. They have been doing pretty well. Jillian has won all 3, (she has a class mate close behind, and there are only about 15 girls running) and Ian is hard to tell, cuz he's racing some 13 year olds and he just turned 10. He finished 13th out of 25 last week. The best thing about it........it's FREE!! Those road races get expensive, huh? Anyway, enough about running. I just hope my kids like it enough to keep it up and go for it in high school. I LOVE life long running!!!!!!! :)
Anyway, your little ones look adorable in their costumes!! When you talked about Rachel, you reminded me of Ian. Shy, shy, shy.....until Halloween when he was 2!! As soon as he learned candy was being handed out, he shot out for the doorways by himself!! You made me laugh when I remembered that! Happy Birthday to Lizzie!! What a sweetie. I love her smile!!!!!! I can't believe she's FOUR!!!!!!!! Loving the photos!!!!! Miss you! Kath
